Pag-IBIG multipurpose loan

When times get tough, many Filipinos turn to side hustles or even start their own businesses to cover expenses. It’s a smart move, considering that most salaries barely cover essential needs each month. However, did you know that there are several financial benefits available to salaried employees in the Philippines?

Unexpected expenses can be stressful, but Pag-IBIG offers a solution through its Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL). This salary loan can provide quick financial assistance when you need it most.

Worried that applying for a government loan might be complicated? Don’t stress—we’ve got you covered!

What is the Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL)?

The Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan is a cash loan available to all Pag-IBIG members. One of the best things about this loan is that eligible borrowers can receive up to 80% of their total contributions—and the funds can be released in as fast as two days!

As the name suggests, this is a multi-purpose loan, meaning you can use it for various financial needs, including:

  • Paying utility bills
  • Settling credit card balances
  • Home improvements
  • Education expenses (tuition, school fees, etc.)
  • Medical costs
  • Travel expenses
  • Business capital
  • Special events and other personal needs

Frequently Asked Questions About Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan

How much can I borrow for a Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan for the first time?

Pag-IBIG contributing members can borrow up to 80% of their regular savings. To calculate the loan amount, multiply your monthly contribution by your membership term, and then apply the 80% loan factor.

For example, if you’ve been a Pag-IBIG member for 15 months, you can borrow PHP 1,800. Here's the calculation:

  • 15 months (total Pag-IBIG membership contribution) × PHP 200 (monthly contribution) × 0.80

The amount you can borrow increases as your monthly contributions grow, so our advice is to wait a few more months—or even years—to maximize your Pag-IBIG benefits.

What is the interest rate on a Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan?

The Pag-IBIG MPL has a low interest rate of 10.5% per year.

A significant portion of the income from this interest is returned to Pag-IBIG members as dividends.

Can I apply for a Pag-IBIG loan if I am unemployed?

Yes, absolutely! If you're self-employed and have a Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or cash cards, you can apply for a Pag-IBIG loan.

Make sure to complete your loan application form and submit it with all the required documents. Your business needs to be enrolled in the Virtual Pag-IBIG for Employers to complete the process.

Self-employed members with a Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or cash cards can also apply online by uploading the completed loan application form and required documents. However, members with a regular Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card can only complete their application online if their employer is enrolled in the Virtual Pag-IBIG for Employers.

Can I process my Pag-IBIG loan online?

Yes, you can! Simply visit the Virtual Pag-IBIG page for members and follow these steps:

  • Upload your completed application form and supporting documents.
  • Fill out the online application form.

How do I repay my Pag-IBIG loan?

Pag-IBIG loans are payable within three years (36 months), with the first payment deferred. Members can also choose a two-year (24 months) repayment period.

For employed members, loan payments can be deducted directly from your salary through an arrangement with your employer. If you wish to make additional payments, you can do so via Virtual Pag-IBIG, at any Pag-IBIG Fund branch, or through accredited collection partners' online payment channels.

For self-employed individuals, loan payments can also be made via Virtual Pag-IBIG, at any Pag-IBIG branch, or through the online channels of accredited collecting partners.
